Street Outreach & Acupuncture

Acupuncture without needles can be used by unlicensed community responders to provide symptom relief for people with addiction, mental illness, trauma, and pain. It is a safe, inexpensive, well-studied, and effective service for the outreach toolkit.

Limited seating is available for AMSA members and non-members on a first-come-first-served basis. Details about the downtown training location will be sent by May 25. Your must RSVP to join the training.

Dr. David Eisen is a licensed acupuncturist. As the Executive Director of Quest Center for Integrative Health, David serves people with chronic diseases including HIV/AIDS, cancer, addictions and mental health disorders as well as chronic pain.

David graduated from Cornell University, received his Master in Social Work from Washington University, Chinese medical training from the New England School of Acupuncture, and his doctorate in Chinese Medicine from Open University of Sri Lanka. He is on the faculty of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and the Oregon Pain Management Commission. For 18 years he was Director of Central City Concern’s Portland Alternative Health Center and Director of Clinical Services.

Because the Street Outreach & Acupuncture training is in-person and includes direct learning of acupuncture practice, we ask all participants be COVID symptom free to attend the training, wear a mask over mouth and nose at all times, maintain appropriate distance, and be vaccinated.
