MEET PAUL/OCTAVIA
Q1
Hello! What is your name(s) and pronouns? What have your roles/positions/titles been at Quest Center? How do you explain what you do when you meet someone in the "elevator?"
My name is Paul/Octavia. Pronouns are they/she. I'm a Recovery Peer Mentor. Having gone through my own struggles with addiction, I can now use that experience to help guide others on their recovery journey and find a new way to live free of dependency to substances and harmful behaviors.
Q2
You are cool! But we want to know more. What are your go-to hobbies outside of working at Quest? ( What gives you energy/makes you tick)
I enjoy CrossFit, Yoga, dancing, meditation and writing music.
Q3
What's going on in your particular department right now and individually- projects, themes, interests that folx might want to know some tidbits about? Most of us don't know all the good stuff you do about the ins and outs of your knowledge and experience.
The Finding & Sustaining Recovery (FSR) department is excited to have recently been included in the Behavioral Health Resource Network (BHRN). We work with other providers to support peers from a diverse population and connect them with culturally specific resources.
Q4
What do you enjoy most about working at Quest, besides the fact that Quest is the best?
I love being part of an amazing and talented team, the inclusivity and diversity of the staff and clients, and relationships with other providers like our partnership with the The Resilience Initiative (TRI) at Miracles Club.
Q5
What's a brief little story or moment you had in your department in the last year that made you feel like- "yesss," or "this is why I'm doing this work!" Could be a success story with a community member/client or anything that comes to mind that made you light up...
I'm so grateful to be able to share the story of mistakes I made in recovery and the negative consequences of my actions, and help others to avoid those stumbling blocks and obstacles to have a smoother transition to living clean and sober.
