Addictions Counselor

Hello! My name is Sofie. I can’t wait to meet you and guide you through your journey with recovery. I am an addictions counselor with prior work experience in healthcare, substance use treatment, and behavioral health. I’m a current student at Portland State University working towards a Bachelor’s in Human Services with a minor in Public Health.

My professional and educational background has solidified my core belief that treatment should be integrative, person-centered, and trauma-informed. My journey to addiction counseling began with my own need and desire to feel understood and seen. It is important to me to view people as who they are, as their whole personhood, and not just what they’ve been through or diagnosed with. Everyone deserves the chance to transform their lives. My journey also came from my passion for transformative justice and community healing. We heal better as individuals when we heal as a community. As you begin or continue your new path, I want to empower you to achieve the life you want. I aim to be curious of your goals and values while supporting your autonomy to provide individualized care.

Originally from Miami, FL, I moved to Portland in 2017 to seek a tranquil and nature-filled life. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our cats and dog, camping in a forest, biking throughout the city, traveling, taking photos, crafting, and watching movies.
