The Five Needle Protocol
5NP
The Five Needle Protocol (5NP) is a proven, low-barrier auricular acupuncture technique supporting addiction recovery, trauma relief, and behavioral health and medical clinics
What is 5NP?
Included in SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices, 5NP complements — rather than replaces — counseling, medication, and other treatment modalities. Five small, sterile needles — or ear seeds/beads — are placed into specific auricular points while clients sit quietly in a group setting for 30-45 minutes. Documented client benefits include better sleep, reduced anxiety & stress, relief from trauma & emotional dysregulation, and reduced cravings.
