Quest Monthly - July 2026

July is Disability Pride and Advocating for Access Month

Disability Pride Month and Advocating for Access Month commemorates the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26th, 1990. This landmark civil rights law provided legal protection against discrimination based on disability in the U.S. Despite 1 in 4 adults in the U.S. having a disability, continuing barriers to access and ableism persist, heightening the need to both support our disabled communities and center the voices of disabled folk. Disability Pride month reminds us all that disabilities come in many forms and that not all disabilities are visible.

The Disability Pride Flag was created in 2021 by Ann Magill. Each color through the center line represents different disabled experiences :

Red - Physical Disabilities

Yellow - Cognitive & Intellectual Disabilities

White - Invisible & Undiagnosed Disabilities

Blue - Psychiatric Disabilities

Green - Sensory Disabilities

Charcoal - Mourning and rage, honoring disabled people who have died due to systemic ableism.

The parade begins at NW Broadway and NW Davis and marches east. At Naito Parkway the parade marches south to the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival. The parade ends at SW Harvey Milk St and Naito Parkway. Join us for snacks, music, glitter, and PRIDE!
