Facilitators: Derrica Moser (she/her) MA, QMHP, Professional Counselor Associate: Derrica is guided by the understanding that systemic oppression and our phenomenological worlds inform choice, behavior, health and ability and as such, she focuses on anti-oppressive and decolonized methods and techniques.
Yoselin Aguirre (they/she) MSW, CSWA, QMHP: Yoselin identifies as a queer Xican@ and prioritizes advocating for culturally specific community care, housing first programming, and harm reduction initiatives as well as valuing social justice, mutual aid, and intentionality in social services!
About: Through the utilization of Trauma, Recovery and Empowerment curriculum as established by Maxine Harris, Ph.D. and The Community Connections Trauma Work Group, this psychoeducational and process-oriented group endeavors to provide basic information about physical and sexual abuse and how current behaviors are linked to past abuses.
Encourage reframing of current adaptive coping strategies, gain education about basic skills in self-regulation, boundary maintenance, and communication. Finally, to create a healing community in which individuals might explore and experience a sense of competence and resolution of past wounds (Harris, et al., 1998).
Open to: Open to Mental Health clients who were AFAB (assigned female at birth) but do not need to identify as female.
