Mental Health Intern
Philosophy and Approach: I identify as a white, queer, poly, neurodivergent, non-binary counselor and I work from an existential-humanistic theoretical approach with an anti-racist, social justice lens and attachment style theory, working with young adults which means I see the client being the expert on their own life and I am there alongside them in support of their healing journey. My previous work has been with various populations including: LGBTQIA+, people of color, folx with disabilities, and those who live with higher impacted mental health struggles. The approaches I use most in therapy are: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Ecotherapy, Somatic therapy, and Attachment Style Theory. I have a passion for focusing on Trauma which I believe everyone has experienced in some form. Being authentic and transparent with clients and taking a holistic approach to therapy while addressing the various social identities we hold that affect our day to day lives is an important value of mine. I believe that nature is a powerful healing tool and I enjoy exploring ways of healing outside of Western traditions. Therapy looks very different for everyone and Iām here to hold a safe space and honor that with a non-judgemental stance. Life is hard, we all have struggles and I find it very validating to be heard, seen and accepted regardless of where we are at in life. You are not alone! In my free time I enjoy spending time in nature with my partner and chosen family. I also enjoy engaging in creative arts, playing games, going out into nature with my golden doodle, and embracing my senses in a cup of coffee. Speaking to my formal training, I am currently in my third year at Lewis and Clark College School of Education and Counseling and will receive my Master's of Clinical Mental Health Counseling specializing in Addictions and will also have a certification in Ecotherapy this upcoming December of 2024.
