Manager of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture

Jess has been committed to natural & community health care for 35 years and has been an acupuncturist for more than half of that time.

Following apprentice study and assisting home birth lay midwives in Wisconsin while she waitressed, went to punk rock shows with her pager and finally finished her undergraduate degree, she was drawn to the great northwest bioregion by the magnificent pull of the Pacific ocean and the welcoming community feeling that Portland embodied in the early 90’s.

After working as a labor and postpartum doula, continuing her 10+ years in the food service industry, as well as teaching herself how to play drums & being blessed to play with all manners of amazing musicians here and abroad, she attended and (by the grace of the gods) graduated with a Master’s degree from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

Board certified and licensed in 2002, she was fortunate enough to begin working in various clinics throughout the Central City Concern organization by and with one of her teachers and mentors, Dr. David Eisen who later went on to become Executive Director at Quest.

Jess was part of the initial team that Dr. Eisen brought on to establish Quest Center’s intensive outpatient drug & alcohol treatment program in 2007 that became FSR (Finding and Sustaining Recovery), and has been honored to work with clients and train other acupuncturists there ever since.

Jess is now also part of WISH (Wellness Integration and Sustaining Health), an integrative non-opiate based pain management program which assists patients in navigating and participating in the many levels of understanding and managing their chronic pain.

Jess has evolved into becoming the Manager of the Department of Chinese Medicine at Quest and she applies her personal experience in recovery, spiritual cultivation practice, and her certification as a level one addictions counselor to her acupuncture work where she is continually able to explore avenues for those she cares for to connect with and heal their physical bodies while they engage in their emotional lives.

She believes that all people, in accordance with their nature to heal and regardless of their economic means, deserve the best possible health care that can be provided.  She is humbled and honored to be a part of the Quest Center community and the team of exceptionally skilled and caring staff and providers there.
