I carry a deep sense of value for therapeutic relationships and a desire to understand your personal story in the course of prescribing for your mental health. I offer psychotropic medications when indicated and will work with you to be certain you understand their risks and benefits. As a licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist with over 30 years of practice, I’m ready to discuss and recommend a variety of options in addition to or instead of psychotropic medications to help inform and support your mental and emotional needs or preferences.
As a naturopathic physician I limit my practice to mental health care, treatment of substance use disorders, and supporting the healing process from past trauma.
I have significant training in psychiatric medications, mental health diagnoses, and biomedical ethics. I’ve given professional presentations on the role of cannabis in mental health including how it can impact schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. I was a clinical and academic professor at the National University of Natural Medicine for over 10 years and served as Chair of the Mind Body Medicine department.
I grew up in northern Europe and consider Germany my childhood home. My family lived near the Mosel river and I played within the grounds of old towers and castle ruins nearly 900 years old. My experience in foreign cultures has given me insight into valuing our shared humanity while treasuring our differences.
